Doorway of Number 224, Savannah, GA

Came across the lovely doorway while doing a walking tour of old Savannah, GA, one of the most fascinating and photogenic cities in the South. It is a paradise of historic 18th and 19th century architecture, filled with lush squares, historic locations and ancient trees draped with Spanish moss.

Hand Colored – Cathedral Basilica, St. Augustine, FL

The Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine was founded in September, 1565, making it the oldest parish in the US and Canada. It sits in the center of historic St. Augustine, America’s oldest city. It underwent major renovation on its 400th anniversary in 1965 but still retains the authentic flavor of the Spanish Franciscans who founded the parish.

Courtyard at the High Battery, Charleston, SC

Shot on my trip last weekend to Charleston, SC at the foot of the city in the historic High Battery. I was walking along the waterfront promenade and caught a glimpse of this lovely courtyard with a real gas lantern in the archway, like those that burn outside most of the historic homes around this part of Charleston.

The Casa del Sol – Northampton, MA

Found this shot from a trip to Northampton in 2010. It was a funky little shop on Main Street called the Casa del Sol that I missed the first time around. The building was bright red and the clothes were fun and colorful so the whole thing set up just perfectly! There were so many cool little businesses in that town. It was great to see that “Main Street Culture” is still alive and well in towns like Northampton!
