Denouement (1)

Still life of my faded Valentine’s Day flowers. When I looked at them through the lens, I saw more beauty and drama in the dying roses than in the fresh ones.

Shot with my Lumix LX-7, fitted with a pair of 10X + 1X macro filters. 5 shot focus stack, post processed in Photoshop CC with the Nik Collection.

Birthday Rose

One of the roses from a lovely flower arrangement I received for my birthday.

Shot with Nikon D5100 with a Nikkor 50mm prime lens. Postprocessed using Nik Color EFX Pro and Viveza and a texture from French Kiss.

Seed Pod

The other day while walking I came across this thing that looked like a big nut laying on the ground. I took it home and after a few days, the hard shell fell off and there was this beautiful seed pod! I could not believe how perfectly the pods were layered and arranged inside the shell. Another example of nature’s elegant geometry!

Shot with Nikon D5100 and Nikkor 50mm f1.8 lens and post processed with Nik Color EFX Pro and Viveza.

Wescott Hall at FSU, Tallahassee, FL

Two different post processed versions of the same photo taken this past weekend at Wescott Hall, Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL.

Both photos are derived from the same original photo shot with a Nikon D5100 with Nikkor 18-55 kit lens.

The first image was processed with several Photoshop and Topaz plugins to create a crisp and colorful watercolor-like appearance. The second one was processed with Nik Software Color EFX Pro and Viveza along with French Kiss Textures to achieve the look of a waterstained oil color painting.

Vintage Sunflowers

Visited the Charleston Farmer’s Market in Marion Square on my last trip and came across a large flower booth. I was so happy to discover a big barrel full of sunflowers hiding on the side of the booth!

Doorway of Number 224, Savannah, GA

Came across the lovely doorway while doing a walking tour of old Savannah, GA, one of the most fascinating and photogenic cities in the South. It is a paradise of historic 18th and 19th century architecture, filled with lush squares, historic locations and ancient trees draped with Spanish moss.

Shot with Nikon D5100, Nikkor 35-120mm lens. Post processed with Nik Color EFX Pro, Viveza and Leslie Nicole’s French Kiss Textures.

Vintage Hydrangeas

I love hydrangeas! Almost as much as I love fresh irises.

Shot with Lumix LX-5. Post Processed with Topaz Adjust, Nil Color EFX Pro and Leslie Nicole’s French Kiss Textures.

Sunset – Key Largo, FL

View of the sunset on Key Largo, FL, looking west from the beach at  the Marriott Resort towards Key Largo Bay.

The Florida Keys are famous for their breathtaking sunsets. On any given day, the beaches are filled with people watching for the “green flash” – the moment when the sun disappears completely below the horizon.

Hand Colored – Cathedral Basilica, St. Augustine, FL

The Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine was founded in September, 1565, making it the oldest parish in the US and Canada. It sits in the center of historic St. Augustine, America’s oldest city. It underwent major renovation on its 400th anniversary in 1965 but still retains the authentic flavor of the Spanish Franciscans who founded the parish.

Shot with Lumix LX-5, processed with Nik Color EFX Pro, Viveza and French Kiss Textures, printed in black and white on archival 100% cotton rag paper then hand colored with pastels.

Courtyard at the High Battery, Charleston, SC

Shot on my trip last weekend to Charleston, SC at the foot of the city in the historic High Battery. I was walking along the waterfront promenade and caught a glimpse of this lovely courtyard with a real gas lantern in the archway, like those that burn outside most of the historic homes around this part of Charleston.

Shot with Nikon D5100 and 28-135 Nikkor lens. Processed with Nik Color EFX Pro, Topaz Adjust and Leslie Nicole’s French Kiss Textures.
